Beyond Stressed: How Autoimmune Disorders Can Develop From Stress

Stress is an inevitable part of life, and acknowledging its existence is an important part of managing your overall health and wellbeing. Some stress can be considered positive, such as the excitement mixed with anxiety that comes from planning a big trip or buying a new home. Conversely, negative stress, such as losing a job or a loved one, can have a negative effect on health. When stress takes over, it is common to go through physical symptoms as well as emotional ones, including gaining and/or losing weight, suffering from insomnia, and feeling restless and fearful. For some people, most of their negative stress is limited to an isolated event or short-term problem. Unfortunately, for others, stress is a major part of everyday life.
