What is Micropen?
Automated Micro-Needling (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy or CIT) is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for the treatment of fine lines, acne scars and improvement of the skin’s overall appearance. During this procedure, tiny needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to produce collagen and elastin. As the skin repairs, it creates a thicker dermis with the appearance of softer, less noticeable, wrinkles. Eclipse Micropen™ also creates superficial micro-channels as those micro-injuries occur. This allows for a perfect absorption set up for: topical gels, creams and serums to be administered more effectively into the skin.
What does the MicroPen treat?
At YoungerMeMD, our Medical Esthetician uses the Eclipse MicroPen to treat a wide range of conditions including:
We can use the MicroPen™ to enhance the skin on the face, neck, décolletage, back, abdomen, hips, arms, hands and legs. YoungerMeMD can create a custom package just for you!
What are the benefits?
The benefits include wrinkle reduction, texture, tone improvement and softer, younger-looking skin with fewer signs of aging. Producing new collagen reverses years of damage. We recommend this treatment for acne scars, stretch marks, fine lines, wrinkles and to improve the tone and texture of skin.
What is the Vampire Facial™? Is a Micropen Facial the same thing?
When used in conjunction with platelet-rich plasma, the Micropen facial can be called the Vampire Facial because it utilizes your own blood for rejuvenation. The tool that is used for creating micro-injuries and micro-channels is called the Micropen. Once those micro-channels are created, your Medical Esthetician can also add other anti-aging properties instead, such as hyaluronic acid or growth factors. There are different tiers of Micropen facials, but the Vampire Facial technique delivers the most advanced, anti-aging results. Before & After of the Micropen Facial, also known as the Vampire Facial
Does it hurt?
We use a topical numbing cream that remains on the skin 20-30 minutes prior to the treatment so the majority of patients are very comfortable during the treatment. The feeling associated with the Micropen is similar to sandpaper being moved across the skin (think a cat’s tongue!).
How long does the procedure take and is there any downtime?
The procedure takes 15-50 minutes depending on the size of the area treated. Keep in mind this does not include the time that it will take to numb the area we will be treating. There are a couple of days of downtime. Immediately after the treatment you skin will feel sensitive and will show some pinkness. Most patients describe it to feel much like a sunburn. There also maybe some mild swelling. You will need to stay out of the sun following each treatment. Appropriate skincare will be discussed at your treatment so you will be well protected following each treatment. A post-care kit is available at YoungerMeMD to make the experience worry free.
What kind of results can I expect to see?
Patients will notice an immediate glow to their skin, but visible changes develop over the course of several weeks. Results continue to improve up to 6 months after the treatments continues.
How many treatments will I need?
It is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 3-6 treatments spaced about 4-6 weeks apart. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks, or acne scars it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 4-6 week intervals. After a series is completed, maintenance treatments can be done every 6 months to maintain results!
